The Bobbsey Twins in Washington is a children's book by Laura Lee Hope. The book is part of the Bobbsey Twins series and was first published in 1930. The story begins with the Bobbsey twins, Nan and Bert, receiving an invitation from their Uncle Daniel to visit him in Washington D.C. with their family. The whole Bobbsey family sets out for the nation's capital, where they meet Uncle Daniel and Aunt Sarah, who takes them on a tour of the city. The Bobbsey twins are fascinated by the White House and the other historic sites they see, but they also become embroiled in a mystery involving a lost locket. While exploring the city, they meet a young girl named Evelyn who is searching for her lost locket that belonged to her mother. The twins help her search for the locket and uncover clues that lead them on an adventure through the city. The Bobbsey Twins also learn about the workings of government and witness a lively debate in the Senate. Along the way, they make new friends and have many exciting experiences. The book ends on a happy note, with the mystery of the lost locket solved and the Bobbsey twins returning home with many happy memories of their trip to Washington.
