Summary of The Giver of Stars: A Novel by Jojo Moyes: Conversation Starters
The Giver of Stars, Jojo Moyes' newest novel tells us a story of five women who break all societal stereotypes and work towards their mission of educating the poor and underprivileged people of Kentucky. The book is inspired by the true story of the horsepack librarians which was an initiative by the Works Progress Administration in the year 1930. The book depicts the same year when America was battling depression and details the arduous pursuit of the library's mission of providing literacy and education to the remote and poverty-ridden areas of Eastern Kentucky and of the bond of love and friendship between the women librarians. The book was a #1 NY Times Bestseller and is even slated to become a major motion picture.
