Meet Gregory George Gordon Green, commonly known among his friends as "Gees." He's a private detective working between the two World Wars with the odd habit of becoming entangled in mysteries involving the supernatural. Supposedly the creation of "Jack Mann," Gees' adventures were actually written by E. Charles Vivian, the closest author England produced in the period from 1920-1940 to a pulp practitioner. Great Britain had few fiction magazines; so instead, Vivian concentrated on writing novels for the inexpensive hardcover market that flourished in England during those days. The "Gees" novels are among his best—literate, romantic, and filled with the blackest magic imaginable. You won't forget the Maker of Shadows!
